IN THE WELSH WIND

MARKETING CONSULTANCY • BRAND DEVELOPMENT
SHOPIFY WEBSITE • DIGITAL ADVERTISING • SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT

Expanding on a brand identity is a challenge we dread and relish in equal measure!

To take somebody's vision and move it in a new direction is a great responsibility. In the Welsh Wind had reached saturation point with their brand communications.

They have a beautiful brand; the bottle labels are intricate with exquisite details. However, after a while, posting the same types of images of the bottles becomes repetitive and tiring.

We were tasked with expanding the narrative and building on what they already have to open a more expansive world.

After extensive research and workshops, we homed in on a central tenant in the philosophy of In the Welsh Wind – nature and sustainability.

We developed the messaging to create a sense of the sustainability values that are essential to the team while also creating a subtext of exclusivity to communicate a knowing wink to people with discerning tastes.

While watching a murmuration of starlings over the water, it occurred that In the Welsh Wind is made from nature and a part of nature.

The Welsh heritage that’s also essential to the brand is what makes it different and why people love their gins, vodka, and whiskies.

We developed a series called ‘Murmurations of nature’ expanding the idea of starlings into other areas where you can see something in the glimpse of an eye but when you look again, it’s gone.

We developed a series of images where you can see the logo of In the Welsh Wind in the fabric  of the natural surroundings. With some Photoshop trickery, we developed this theme, being careful not to make it too obvious, so that it looked fake and also not losing the logo altogether.

Murmuration over landscape; text "FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR"
Ads: bottles, "FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR", hidden crop circles.
Two spirit bottles, "FOR THOSE WHO KNOW", textured and swirling symbol backgrounds.
Windswept tree, "FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR", over long grass.

The result is a series of images that the client felt captured the majesty of the glorious Welsh countryside as well as the magical element of distilling premium spirits from the bounty it produces.

We developed a suite of assets that can be used as a campaign across digital and print advertising, social media, email assets and their website.

We were also invited to develop a new website, which is launching in April 2025. The ‘Murmurations of nature’ concept will feature throughout the website.
